Andrew “Carnegie” Hall is a Bay Area pianist, guitarist, bassist, vocalist, composer, and teacher performing and instructing in a variety of styles and genres. His career began in Fresno, California where he studied jazz theory and classical piano performance at Fresno City College, working under the top-rated teachers of the central valley. During this time Andrew won notable scholarships including the Outstanding Performance Award two years running for his achievements on the piano in both jazz and classical. Seeking more from education and environment, Andrew moved to San Francisco in 2012 to study with Dr. Victoria Neve and Dr. Dee Spencer at San Francisco State University where he earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in jazz theory and piano performance, with a minor in LGBT studies. Andrew was honored with numerous awards at SFSU, including the Janis Getz award, the John Handy award for jazz studies, and the Paul Andrieu memorial award for an exemplary piano performance major. He was the music director for SFSU’s production of Avenue Q in 2013 and accompanist for other musical and operatic projects and workshops. Andrew was the music director for Woodside Village Church from 2016-2020, and taught classroom music from 2016-2019. These days, Carnegie is focused on his original project Jonathan Titmouse as a member of The Emotional Content. He maintains a studio of private students of all ages in both jazz, classical, and music theory techniques. He is currently studying the Alexander Technique and Orff methods for teaching and playing.
When Carnegie isn't playing or teaching music, he loves sailing the SF Bay, gardening, cooking, and working on his 1907 bungalow style house. He has settled down in Oakland with his partner in their home with two kitties.
Carnegie has been playing with The Hot Baked Goods since June of 2015. The band has afforded him the opportunity to play specifically for dancers and to focus on jazz from the 1910's-1940's.
Carnegie has partnered with master songwriter and producer Ben Leon to create interesting and evocative original music. Jonathan Titmouse is continuing to write new songs and produce new content. Look for tour and show dates soon!
